Invest in Mustard
Some franchisees get started with us by opening a single-unit franchise, while others thirst to flex their leadership skills, drive and financial resources to run a larger operation. For this latter group of prospective franchisees, Mustard Franchise Corporation proudly offers our Area Director and Area Developer programs. These exciting programs require higher levels of investment, but also offer significantly higher revenue potential. We are currently licensed to franchise restaurants in California, and are actively seeking investors and franchising licenses in other states.
Area Directors purchase the rights to an exclusive sales territory, and develop it through a combination of opening their own stores and recruiting affiliate franchisees to build new units. As part of their development agreements, Area Directors commit to aggressive development timetables for their territories. To assist Area Directors in meeting their development schedules, Mustard Franchise Corporation conducts lead generation activities and refers franchisee prospects directly to the appropriate Area Director.
Area Developers are multi-unit franchisees who commit to develop three or more Mustard Café® restaurants in accordance with a development timetable. Unlike Area Directors, Area Developers own and operate all units themselves. Like Area Directors, Area Developers benefit from lead generation campaigns and are eligible to receive referrals for prospective franchisees in their area.

Area Directors
Area Directors represent the highest level of franchisee involvement and commitment. Under an agreement with Mustard Franchise Corporation, Area Directors purchase the rights to develop a territory of 2,000,000 residents or more.
Area Directors are subject to an initial training fee of $15,000, as well as an area fee of $.10 per territory resident (e.g., for a territory of 2,000,000 people, the area fee would be $200,000).
An Area Director commits to develop 40 new stores in his territory over the 10-year term of his or her agreement with Mustard Franchise Corporation. The Area Director actively recruits new single-unit franchisees and Area Developers to help him meet this development schedule. Each month, Area Directors are paid 40 percent of all franchise fees and royalties that Mustard Franchise Corporation collects from franchisees in his territory.

Licensing Status
At the present time, Mustard Franchise Corporation is licensed to issue franchises only in California; however, we welcome inquiries from prospective Area Directors and Area Developers based anywhere in the United States. As part of our expansion plans, we are moving forward to obtain licensing in other states. We plan to acquire state licenses in priority order, starting with the states from which we have received the greatest response from qualified Area Director and Area Developer prospects.
Area Developers
Area Developers occupy the middle tier of Mustard Franchise Corporation’s three-tier franchising model. Recruited by local Area Directors and/or by Mustard Franchise Corporation itself, Area Developers commit to developing a minimum of three new Mustard Café locations during the term of the franchise agreement.
Area Developers pay 50 percent of the franchise fees for all locations up front. The typical schedule for opening new locations is as follows:
- Within six months of signing the agreement, open the first store
- Within 18 months of signing the agreement, open the second store
- Within three years of signing the agreement, open the third store
